South Sisters Where are the Brothers?

The South Sisters have just fired their only male member. Sure that member never once wrote a story for them, but does this put them in an awkward place? The South Sisters is a newspaper now made up of only women. Some are concerned that they will only report on what women want to read, but is there cause for the concern? I have done a little digging to find out who their stories have been aimed towards. Are they writing about how to apply makeup or important current news headlines? Could the stories be about ponies and rainbows or wars and conflict?

After talking to some of the members of South Sisters it soon became evident that there should be some concern from men. Their sports stories were on tennis and softball. Where is lacrosse, where there is physical contact? Where is baseball, the male version of softball? They have a section for horoscopes, but no man I know reads their horoscope. These stories do seem one sided, but maybe it was just this issue.

In past articles I found news that is appealing to both genders. Some examples are the stories about AP classes and testing. Unfortunately, I also found more stories aiming towards females. There are stories on the arts, which turns an athletic guy like me off immediately. They have stories about prom, that I would opt to skip. There are more of those damn horoscopes too.

My findings conclude that South Sisters is not quite reaching both males and females. Men stay away from this paper because there is not much there for you. With no male writers on this team this is a paper for women. What do you expect from a paper called South Sisters?
